
I was kind of out of it this year, so I spent a couple weeks going through several best of 2011 lists to bring myself up to speed: Pitchfork, Allmusic, Popstache, AV Club, Spin, Rolling Stone, Q magazine and several more. The Village Voice's Pazz and Jop was especially helpful (with 600 singles ranked!). And I've put together a list of my 100 favorite tracks.
I don't think 2011 was an especially strong year for albums. There wasn't even one record that I was thought was great from start to finish, but there were many great singles and album tracks. Here's my pick for the year's top 10 songs:
